When it comes to building and creating projects, I follow the following philosophy:

"if you have a rock, you can make a boulder."

Most of the projects that I have built over the past few years have been built from scratch, or used the minimal amount of 3rd party software, meaning that I used as much of my own original source code as possible building them. The only exception to this rule was m0o-tab and the minecraft server of course.
